OVERALL PURPOSE OF ROLE


The Lead Installation Engineer will be in charge of the overall installation work package in the HV Land Installation business.


KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensuring that engineering meets all the requirements of the Customer (including environment, health and safety requirements of a technical and operational nature) ;
  • Preparing a detailed plan of the installation route (including joint positions, cable routes and cable lengths, cables crossings and parallelism with other services, etc.);
  • Preparing installation technical documentation (e.g. installation manual, drawings or technical documentations);
  • Planning installation activities;
  • Drafting detailed technical specifications to be submitted to sub-contractors;
  • Taking part in Customer meetings upon request by the Project Manager;
  • Preparing final As Built documentation;
  • Be the reference point of a team of engineers with the objective to execute the design of cable installation on time and within agreed budget.
  • Be the reference point as far as cable installation design is concerned in meetings and discussion with Clients and Subcontractors.
  • Ensure operations are conducted in accordance with documented plans and procedures and ensure revisions are discussed and documented with PM;
  • Ensure each operation of a particular project has been carefully pre planned and that procedures are documented and understood by the site personnel before starting operations;
  • Ensure operations comply with applicable laws, regulations, standards, environmental policy & ensure that all practical measures are taken to protect the environment & prevent pollution.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Honorable degree in technical engineer (Civil Engineering preferred)
  • Knowledge of cable business 

Minimum Experience:

  • 8/10 years of experience in similar role
  • Fluent in English and German, written and spoken
  • Knowledge of the land cable installation business/market
  • Knowledge of installation engineering tasks typical of land HV systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations and standards for cable installation works in Germany
  • Experience in the preparation of technical documentation related to land cable installation
  • Experience in the preparation of conceptual drawings and design for trenches, drillings, structures for cable fixing
  • Experience in the calculation of land cable installation parameters 
  • Experience in installation activities planning
  • Experience in technical negotiations
  • Practical experience made on site: onshore
  • Experience in managing relationship with Subcontractors (for civil works and installation activities)
  • Knowledge of installation mechanical phenomena/behavior as to face conventional but also new challenging and innovative approach for the installation of land cable systems.
