You’re a highly skilled product marketer with a proven ability to strategize the full lifecycle of platforms and products — from conception through release and the life cycle. You may already be a confident leader who has experience guiding cross-functional teams in the successful creation of products that improve consumer experience and grow market share.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop a clear global strategic vision for motors, drives and controls and effectively communicate that vision throughout all levels of the organization.

  • Drive the product planning process across cross-functional teams of the company.

  • Expertise in planning and prioritization of cross-functionally and globally executed projects. As required, create and drive detailed action plans, schedules, people, and tasks. 

  • Appraise new product ideas and associated strategy for appropriate go-to-market plans.

  • Translate product strategy and unmet customer needs into detailed requirements for platforms and products (MRD, etc.) with prioritized features, cost targets and corresponding justification.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering, production, marketing, and sales teams on the development, QA, and release of products and balance of resources to ensure success for the entire organization.

  • Assess current competitor offerings, seeking opportunities for differentiation.

  • Generally – partnering with other functions to build best-in-class execution teams.

  • Run beta and pilot programs with early-stage products and samples to plant seeds and obtain customer feedback that results in successful launch.

  • Help assure products are launched on time at the target cost, quality, and manufacturing lead-time by confirming technical specifications and priorities are aligned with MRD.

  • Analyze market data to develop sales and channel strategies and define product objectives for effective marketing communications plans.

  • Develop product positioning and messaging that differentiates Kollmorgen and its features across primary market segments.

  • Analyze potential partnerships from an ROI (and build vs. buy) perspective.

  • Develop sales tools and collateral, teach the sales team how to perform product demos to customers.

  • Set and maintain product pricing, according to position and value relative to the competitive landscape and next-best alternatives, to meet revenue and profitability goals.

  • Brief and train the sales force at regular intervals.

  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.

  • Manage communication between factory and field sales and support teams for large account projects.

  • Screen, prioritize and quote new business opportunities through business assessment, presentation to senior management and commercial team facilitation.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience in a technical field with combined experience as a Business Manager, B2B Product Manager, Application Engineering and/ or Sales Management.

  • Strong preference given to industrial servo and/or stepper motion experience in sales, marketing, or engineering capacity, especially in the electronics (i.e. Drives and Controls) product area.

  • Proven success defining & launching, as the Product Manager, one or more major platforms/products

  • Previous experience selling technical products with 6 – 24 months’ sales cycle.

  • Exceptional leadership skills

  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority (comfortable working in a matrix organization)

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (BSEE) or similar required.

  • MBA is preferred.

  • Experience with lean manufacturing concepts and practices is a plus.

  • Fluent in English and German.

OTHER:

  • Must be willing and able to travel globally 25% - 35% of the time by all forms of transportation.

  • This position will have a functional direct and extended reporting team that is globally distributed.
