Take the Financial Lead at a Global Pharmaceutical Player

Are you a seasoned accounting professional looking for a high-impact key role in an international corporate environment? On behalf of our client - a renowned pharmaceutical company headquartered in Cuxhaven (Lower Saxony, Germany) and part of a leading international pharma group with its parent company based in Slovenia - we are seeking an experienced Chief Accountant (m/f/d). In this pivotal position, you will take full responsibility for local accounting operations, oversee complex closing processes, and serve as a key finance partner within the global corporate network.


Your Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the preparation of accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end financial statements in compliance with HGB and IFRS.
  • Lead general ledger accounting operations, ensure correct booking of transactional data, and maintain financial accuracy across all accounts.
  • Manage and optimize financial processes within SAP S/4HANA.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for external auditors, tax advisors, and local authorities; ensure strict compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate closely with the finance teams at the Slovenian parent company and align financial reporting with corporate expectations.


What You Bring to the Role

  • University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in General Ledger and financial accounting, ideally within the pharmaceutical, life sciences, or manufacturing industry.
  • Proven expertise in accounting standards under both HGB and IFRS.
  • Solid track record in managing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing processes.
  • Proficiency with SAP S/4HANA and core general ledger workflows.
  • Business-fluent German and English skills (written and spoken) to communicate effectively with the Slovenian parent company and international stakeholders.
  • A structured, hands-on, and solution-oriented working style with high personal accountability.


Nice-to-Have

  • Direct experience in audit management and coordinating with external auditors.
  • Background in tax & compliance and international stakeholder management.
