Senior Scala Engineer

• Successfully completed university degree in computer science or a comparable field of study.
• 5+ years of hands-on backend development, including production-critical systems.
• Willingness to write production code in Scala – your language background doesn't matter; Scala experience is a strong plus.
• Experience with cloud infrastructure on AWS, including building and maintaining it (not only using it).
• Experience with relational and/or NoSQL databases (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB).
• End-to-end responsibility – you own your topics from analysis through production and operations, not just the code you write.
• Self-driven – you take ownership, find answers on your own, and move topics forward without waiting for detailed instructions.
• Strong communication – you keep the team informed, ask early, say when something is at risk and feel comfortable working remotely with colleagues across several countries.
• Fluency in Polish and very good communication in English.
• Availability to work in a hybrid mode. Remote workers, we invite to the office once every month.

Nice to have

• Commercial experience with Scala and Play Framework, or with another functional language.
• Interest in joining the team's on-call rotation after onboarding (optional, not a requirement).
• Frontend experience – full-stack profile is a great fit for the team.
• Experience with TypeScript or Python (AWS Lambda).
• Background in payments / card processing: acquiring, ISO 8583, card schemes, network tokenization.
• Knowledge of PCI-DSS requirements.
