System Test Team Manager Build Technology That Saves Lives
- BSc or MSc in Computer Science, Automation, Telecommunications, or a related technical engineering discipline
- Experience leading a software test, QA, or system verification team - or technical/test lead experience plus a clear appetite to step into people leadership
- Solid grounding in the software development lifecycle, with real depth in testing: test strategy, system-level verification, and test automation
- Practical, daily proficiency with AI development tools (e.g. Claude Code, Copilot, Gemini) applied to engineering problems.
- Ability to identify roadblocks and drive them promptly to resolution
- Excellent communication skills, and the ability to explain technical risk clearly to senior stakeholders
- English at B2/C1 or above
- Familiarity with Agile and Scrum practices

- Experience testing mission-critical, high-availability, or safety-relevant systems
- Familiarity with land mobile radio, P25/ASTRO, VoIP, or real-time audio
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and automation frameworks (Python, Java, or similar)
- Experience managing physical test labs or hardware-in-the-loop environments
- Experience applying AI to test generation, log analysis, or failure triage

We are looking for a passionate Engineering Manager to lead and inspire our Software Test Team.
The quality bar in the ASTRO Consoles team is unusually high: when our software fails, someone calling for help doesn't get through. That is the standard we all uphold.
You will be responsible for quality vision for how our team meets this standard and drive improvements in our quality processes to reduce test time while increasing product quality. The latter part is where this role gets interesting. We are rebuilding how we test by incorporating AI and automation through every stage of the SDLC, from test design and environment provisioning to failure triage. We want a leader who is genuinely excited to drive that transformation.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will be expected to read test plans critically, get into the automation and the lab, and be fluent enough in the product to know when a release is actually ready.
