Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer

For one of our Clients operating in the global financial services sector, we are seeking talented professionals to join long-term strategic initiatives.

As a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer, you’ll remove manual work from IT operations by treating infrastructure as code and building secure, reliable automation and pipelines. You’ll bridge development and operations to make server deployment, network scaling, OS/DB provisioning, patching, and software updates faster and more resilient.

A core requirement of this role is to develop and maintain automation and CI/CD pipelines for IT Infrastructure (including OS and Database platforms) that underpin critical Client's IT Applications and Services - improving consistency, security, auditability, and speed of delivery across environments.

Ideal candidate should have:

• Strong experience delivering infrastructure automation and Infrastructure as Code in enterprise environments.
• Hands-on capability with Ansible (or equivalent tooling), including modular design and reuse.
• Proven experience building and operating CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure/platform changes (pipeline-as-code, quality gates, approvals, auditability).
• Strong scripting skills in Python, Bash, and/or PowerShell with solid troubleshooting and debugging ability.
• Practical experience administering and securing Linux Servers in Development and production.
• Working knowledge of database infrastructure concepts and automation needs (e.g., standard builds/config, patching, backup/restore considerations, operational resilience).
• Experience using Git for version control, branching strategies, and code review workflows.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills- able to explain technical designs clearly to engineers and stakeholders, and work effectively across dev/ops boundaries.
• Security-minded approach: secrets management, least privilege, and embedding controls into automation by design.

Desirable Skills / Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Docker and/or Kubernetes (platform enablement, automation, and operational patterns).
• Observability engineering depth (metrics/logs/traces) and SRE-style reliability practices (SLIs/SLOs, error budgets).
• Policy-as-code and compliance automation (e.g., guardrails, automated evidence capture).
• Experience integrating automation with ITSM/change processes and enterprise tooling (artefact repositories, secrets vaults, CMDB, etc.).
• Financial services / regulated environment experience, especially around change control and audit readiness.

Qualifications / Experience:

• Significant (5+ years) experience in infrastructure engineering and automation, with demonstrable outcomes (reduced manual effort, faster delivery, improved reliability and compliance).
• Relevant certifications are beneficial (Cloud, Terraform, Kubernetes, Red Hat/Microsoft), but practical delivery experience is prioritised.
